Faculty members elected to DPS Oversight Committee

David A. Moran, clinical professor of law, and Richard D. Friedman, Alene and Allan F. Smith Professor of Law, have been elected for two-year terms on the Department of Public Safety Oversight Committee beginning in April.

The independent committee was established to address grievances and complaints by persons against DPS police officers or the department. The committee may make recommendations concerning such grievances to the executive vice president and chief financial officer, including recommendations for disciplinary action.

The six-member committee consists of two student members, two faculty members (one Senate faculty and one non-Senate faculty), and two staff members (one union and one non-union), who are nominated and elected by their peers for two-year terms.

Moran, the newly elected non-Senate faculty representative, and Friedman, the representative re-elected by the Faculty Senate, will begin their terms Sunday. For more information, visit the DPS Oversight Committee website.
