Flint, Dearborn campuses announce commencement speakers

UM-Flint and UM-Dearborn have announced the featured speakers for their commencement on April 29. Both schools will conduct separate morning and afternoon ceremonies that day.

At the Dearborn campus

David Brandon, U-M director of intercollegiate athletics, will speak at the morning ceremony, beginning at 10 a.m., for graduates of the College of Engineering and Computer Science and College of Business.

Chacona W. Johnson, president and CEO of the Detroit Public Schools Foundation, will speak at the afternoon ceremony, beginning at 3 p.m., for graduates of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters and School of Education.

At the Flint campus

Mark Miller, plant manager at the General Motors Davison Road Processing Center, will speak at the morning ceremony, beginning at 11 a.m., for undergraduate and graduate students from the College of Arts and Sciences and graduate students from the Rackham School of Graduate Studies.

Dr. Raymond Gist, a Flint dentist and the first African-American president of the American Dental Association, will speak at the afternoon ceremony, beginning at 3:30 p.m., for undergraduate and graduate students from the School of Management, School of Health Professions and Studies, and the School of Education and Human Services.
