New MHealthy programs help employees stay healthy during the upcoming season

Registration now is open for "'Tis the Season for MHealthy," programs designed to help university faculty and staff stay healthy and maintain their peace of mind during this busy time of the year.

 

Register and learn more about all ’Tis the Season programs.

Programs take place in November and December and include weekly, 30-minute online healthy-lifestyle events and in-person financial seminars.

"With so much going on at the end of the year, staying on a healthy track and maintaining your peace of mind can be a challenge," says Denise Williams, associate director of risk reduction services for MHealthy.

"We wanted to offer our community quick tips and helpful advice that they can use during this time of the year, so we have topics like fitting in fitness, staying in control while enjoying events and parties, indulging without gaining weight, and enjoying the holidays more while spending less."

Online healthy lifestyle series

Each free, 30-minute online session takes place from noon-12:30 p.m. Registration is required. Sign up for the entire series or pick individual sessions based on topic. Sessions are:

• Nov. 14: Being Thankful — Kicking off the Season.

• Nov. 15: Being Tobacco-Free for a Day — A Gift to Yourself .

• Nov. 21: Being Smart About Parties and Events.

• Nov. 28: Being Active Into the New Year.

• Dec. 5: Being Indulgent Without Overdoing It.

• Dec. 12: Being Generous This Season.

• Dec. 19: Being Content This Season.

Financial seminars

Free seminars are led by Kathryn Greiner, U-M Credit Union budget counselor. She will give tips on ways to enjoy the holidays more while spending less, and how to get family members on board with these changes. Registration is required. Refreshments will be served. Seminars are:

• Thursday, 11 a.m-noon, Kochoff Hall C, UM-Dearborn.

• Thursday, 12:30-1:30 p.m., Kochoff Hall C, UM-Dearborn.

• Nov. 8, noon-1 p.m., Wolverine Tower.

• Nov. 13, 8:30-9:30 a.m., North Campus Administrative Complex.

• Dec. 11, 3:30-4:30 p.m., University Hospital.

• Dec. 13, noon-1 p.m., Michigan Union.
