Speakers set for Flint, Dearborn commencement ceremonies

UM-Dearborn commencement April 28

Anne Parsons, president and CEO of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Jeffrey D. Sachs, director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University, will be the keynote speakers at UM-Dearborn’s commencement ceremonies April 28 at the Fieldhouse/Arena.

Parsons will speak at the 10 a.m. ceremony for graduates of the university’s colleges of Engineering and Computer Science, Business, and Education. Sachs will speak at the 3 p.m. ceremony for graduates of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters. Sachs will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree.

UM-Flint commencement May 5

Dale Kildee, longtime member of the U.S. House of Representatives, and Dr. Kenneth Steibel, chief of staff at Genesys Regional Medical Center, will be the speakers at UM-Flint's commencement ceremonies May 5 at the Perani Arena and Event Center.

Kildee will speak and receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree at the 11 a.m. commencement ceremony for graduates of the College of Arts and Sciences and Rackham School of Graduate Studies. Steibel will speak at the 3 p.m. session for graduates of the schools of Management, Health Professions and Studies, and Education and Human Services.
