A team of superheroes can be seen swinging from the exterior of C.S. Mott Children's Hospital this week, as the 12-story facility's window washers don masks and costumes to generate smiles of surprise and delight from patients. University unveils refreshed logo to provide consistent look
One Maize. One Blue. One Block M. Pull them together and you have an updated logo for the University of Michigan. The refined visual identity system, now available for use, features the maize Block M on a deep blue background. Below are the words "University of Michigan" set in a custom typeface named, appropriately, Victors.

Active U winners announced; more than 16,000 participate
Active U's eighth year proved to be its most successful yet. More than 16,200 people participated and more than 30.2 million minutes of physical activity were logged during the 12-week challenge. Both numbers were larger than in previous years.

Crisler Center receives LEED Gold Certification for sustainable strategies
The Crisler Center renovation and expansion project has been granted Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification from the United States Green Building Council. It received the designation for sustainable design strategies and concepts.

Caring for Boston victims
On April 15, LSA alumnus and orthopedic surgeon Dr. Scott Ryan was just about to begin his third surgery of the day when a nurse came bursting into the operating room. "She said that there had been an explosion in Boston and there were multiple people injured," Ryan says of the Boston Marathon bombing. “My initial thought was that it was a joke. 'No,' the nurse told me. 'They’re going to be downstairs in a minute.'" Thus began one of Ryan's busiest, most hectic, stressful and memorable days.
