Statement from President Mary Sue Coleman regarding Paul DeWolf
This week, our campus community was stunned by the tragic news about the death of one of our promising medical students, Paul DeWolf.
We extend our deepest condolences to Paul’s family, friends and colleagues. He was working and training among a close, nurturing community of healers and I know they will help each other through this difficult time. They will need the support of the broader campus community in the weeks and months ahead, and we will provide it.
As the police investigation continues, we are taking all necessary steps to assure the safety of our campus community with an increased police presence in the North Ingalls and the Central Campus areas.
We have extensive grief counseling services available, including the CAPS program for students at (734) 764-8312, the Employee Assistance Program at (734) 763-5409 or, for medical students, the Office of Medical Student Education’s Class Counselors at (734) 764-0219 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Please contact them about concerns related to your own reaction, or that of a student or colleague.
We will share further details as they become available. Please keep Paul, his family and friends in your thoughts.
Mary Sue Coleman, president
