School of Information (SI) graduate students—including
Sara Naab, above—set out June 7 for Miami in an old school
bus, which then traveled by freighter to Haiti. The students are
researching the role that information and community technologies
can play in the Haitian economy. They took 6,000 books, 3,200 pounds
of pinto beans, 92 computers and other items. Other students include
Sadanori Horiguchi, Junko Sagawa, Elizabeth Keith, Ben Robinson
and Sharon Smith of SI and Luis Castro of the Business School. Another
seven SI students in Ann Arbor are assisting with distance-learning
technologies: Henry Chou, Caroline Crouse, Erin Doumboulaki, Rachel
Hu, Cory Knobel, Jim Ungar and Sara Ulius. They also have received
faculty support of their efforts. (Photo courtesy School of Information) |
