Parking permit renewals in the mail

Faculty and staff currently in possession of a 2006 U-M parking permit soon will receive one of two mailings—a notification of automatic renewal or an application for next year's permit.

Permit holders who use a blue or yellow automatic vehicle identification (AVI) device and utilize payroll deduction will receive a postcard indicating the amount of deduction for the new permit year, which will begin July 1. Physicians and others identified as having exceptional parking needs, who currently possess a gold AVI device, will have it renewed and will be mailed a postcard.

Employees who wish to change their permit option must return the AVI device and complete a new application, which can be obtained from Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) at 508 Thompson Street.

All other permit holders—including those who obtained a gold permit through the lottery, AVI device holders without payroll deduction due to their appointments, and faculty with blue, yellow or orange hangtags or static cling decals—will receive an application at their home addresses.

Completed applications may be returned to PTS in the return envelope provided via campus or U.S. mail.

Individuals who do not receive an application or postcard by April 19 should contact PTS at (734) 764-8291. Applications also are available in the PTS lobby.

Staff members not part of the annual renewal process include staff and faculty who currently do not own a U-M permit, research fellows, staff with less than 50-percent appointments, and temporary employees. These individuals should visit www.pts.umich.edu to obtain a parking request form and then visit the PTS office to obtain a 2006-07 parking option.

For more information about transportation and parking, see www.pts.umich.edu or call (734) 764-8291.
