New Faculty Orientation Aug. 27

The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching will conduct the annual New Faculty Orientation from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Michigan League. The program will include remarks by Provost Teresa Sullivan and Stephen Forrest, vice president for research, as well as interactive sessions in which faculty can share experiences and strategize about good teaching. An information fair will feature representatives from key offices with materials and answers to questions about life at the University. Associate VP for student affairs search continues

Vice President E. Royster Harper has announced that the initial search for an associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students did not result in a hiring and the search will go on. Donica Thomas Varner, assistant general counsel, will continue to serve as chair of the 12-member search committee. It will work with a search firm with a proven history filling administrative positions within higher education to identify and recruit candidates nationally for the position and identify a list of finalists. Work in the Dean of Students' Office will continue uninterrupted.

UM-AAOP sponsors slogan, logo contests

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the U-M Association of Administrative Office Professionals the organization is sponsoring two concurrent contests for a slogan and a logo, called SLOGO. The logo should identify the association to the world and the slogan should capture the essence of what an administrative office professional does. Entries can be submitted for one or both. Grand prize winners will each receive $75 cash.
