Regents meeting April 16

The Board of Regents will have its monthly meeting at 3 p.m. April 16 in the Regents Room of the Fleming Administration Building. Public comments on agenda items will be taken prior to their consideration. Comments on nonagenda items will follow the regular business agenda. Record to publish commencement activities

The Record will publish information on university commencement activities in the April 13 issue. Departments and units are asked to submit their commencement details — including date, time, location and speaker information — by 5 p.m. April 7. Submissions must include a phone number for the public to get more information. Our key source of information for commencement activities is the Spring Commencement Web site at Submissions to The Record can include additional information on departmental and unit commencement activities. Assistance available for SPH online certificate

People in Michigan who qualify for funding through the No Worker Left Behind program now can get most of their tuition covered for the Certificate in the Foundations of Public Health (CFPH) online program offered by the School of Public Health (UM SPH). Students in the CFPH program learn the fundamentals of public health from SPH faculty without ever traveling to campus. They earn a certificate that recognizes the completion of core coursework in the vital and growing field of public health. Displaced workers who qualify under the new Michigan state funding program will receive $5,000 per year for a maximum of $10,000 over two years. The CFPH online program has also been approved for listing on the State of Michigan Career Education Consumer Report Web site. For additional information go to
