Regents meeting May 14

The Board of Regents will hold its monthly meeting at 3 p.m. May 14 at the Henry Ford Estate — Fair Lane, UM-Dearborn. Public comments on agenda items will be taken prior to their consideration. Comments on nonagenda items will follow the regular business agenda. People with disabilities who need assistance should contact the Office of the Vice President and Secretary of the University in advance at 734-764-3883. University payroll office announces new hours

Effective June 1, the University Payroll Office reception desk no longer will be open between 7:30-8 a.m. Reception in Room G395 Wolverine Tower will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to assist customers. Both reception and the messenger window will continue to be open noon-1 p.m. Note that messenger pick-ups continue to be limited to 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays. Record goes to reduced schedule

After today's issue, the University Record will publish on a bi-weekly spring and summer schedule May-July and will have one issue in August. The next Record will be May 18. Weekly publication will resume Sept. 8 with the start of the 2009-10 academic year. Volunteers sought

The U-M Northwood Community English Language Program presents a volunteer-information meeting at 7:30 p.m. May 5 at the Community Center, 1000 McIntyre on North Campus. Throughout the year the program offers instruction in English as a second language to Northwood residents as well as non-residents. For more information call 764-8463.

Gupta to address Medical School graduates

The Medical School will host commencement exercises at 5 p.m. Friday at Hill Auditorium. Dr. Sanjay Gupta, chief CNN medical correspondent, will give the keynote address to 161 graduates, their families and guests. Gupta is an alumnus of both the University of Michigan and its Medical School. He continues his work as a practicing neurosurgeon and assistant professor of neurosurgery at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta while creating Emmy-winning stories for CNN.
