Photo: Law School dedication

President Mary Sue Coleman, right, and Bruce Bickner, chair of Campaign Steering Committee for Law and member of President's Advisory Group, unfurl a banner during a site dedication for a new Law School academic building at the corner of State and Monroe streets. Calling the Law Quadrangle a "true architectural treasure," Coleman said "few buildings on campus are as revered and magnificent." Expanding instructional space to the historical building is essential so the Law School can flourish, she added. The centerpiece of the project is a four-story instructional and administrative building to be built across Monroe Street, south of the existing buildings. It also will incorporate a new Law School Commons area, which will rise in an unused grassy area east of Hutchins Hall and south of the Legal Research Building.
