U-M, OSU square off in third annual organ challenge
With less than one week until the Nov. 22 U-M vs. The Ohio State University football game, the Students for Organ Donation chapter is working with Gift of Life Michigan and the Transplant Center to tackle the Buckeyes in the third annual Wolverine-Buckeye Challenge for Life.
Stories of U-M students, alumni and employees who have been impacted by organ donation are available at www.dosomethingNICEwithyourBODY.com/challenge, a Web site created by Christy Hammond, interim president of the U-M Students for Organ Donation chapter.
Those affected by organ donation include:
• A current student who had an organ transplant in 2005;
• Three alumni who had cornea or bone marrow transplants;
• An employee who had a kidney transplant; and
• Kevin Ross, a former U-M marching band drum major who is now president and CEO of Michigan Eye-Bank.
To sign up for the challenge go to the Michigan Organ Donor Registry, www.giftoflifemichigan.org/showusyourheart, and credit U-M for how you heard about organ donation.
