Oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens explains his Pickens Energy Plan during a town hall meeting at Power Center. Pickens, who is founder and chairman of BP Capital Management, says increased investments in renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power, natural gas and nuclear energy, will help break the nation's $700 billion a year dependence upon foreign oil. A self-described "pioneer" on the subject, he says he aims to do this by building wind farms from Texas to Canada to harness a renewable electricity supply. The event was organized by the Michigan Student Assembly as part of its "Go Blue-Live Green" homecoming theme. (Photo by Jillian Bogater)
