John Tesmer, a research associate professor at the Life Sciences Institute and the Department of Pharmacology, has been named the winner of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Schering-Plough Research Institute Award. Tesmer was nominated for developing a major reputation as a leading structural biologist, and for becoming a recognized leader in the structural biology of G protein signaling. The award recognizes outstanding research contributions to biochemistry and molecular biology by those who have no more than 15 years postdoctoral experience.

John Hart, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, College of Engineering, has been selected as one of nine recipients of the 2010 American Society of Mechanical Engineers Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award. Since 1980 this award has recognized manufacturing engineers, age 35 or younger, who have made exceptional contributions and accomplishments in the manufacturing industry.
