President Mary Sue Coleman addresses students during the Honors Convocation at Hill Auditorium, encouraging them to be innovative and entrepreneurial. "Michigan students are not afraid to advance their ideas in hopes of making a difference, and we need that confidence more than ever, as we work to transform our state’s economy," she said. More than 7,000 students were invited to the March 15 event, which recognizes undergraduate students for their distinguished academic achievements.

WDI founder William Davidson remembered as visionary
Business visionary, great philanthropist, generous adviser, dedicated and successful alumnus, great man — these are among the many ways University leaders described the man who founded The William Davidson Institute. Davidson, who may have been best known as the managing partner of the Detroit Pistons Basketball Club, died Friday at age 86. President Mary Sue Coleman said the University would “honor his legacy as a dedicated and successful alumnus.”

New U-M Occupational Health Services opens today
University Hospital’s Employee Health Services and the part of the MWorks Occupational Health Clinic that served the main campus have merged to create U-M Occupational Health Services. The clinic opens today.

Police warn North Campus about thefts from vehicles
The Department of Public Safety is alerting students, staff, faculty and residents of North Campus that several thefts from vehicles recently have been reported. Since January a total of 13 larcenies from vehicles have been reported, police officials say.

Michigan Radio receives broadcasting honors
For the sixth year in a row, Michigan Radio, the public radio service from the University of Michigan, has been named Public Broadcasting Station of the Year by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
