University food operations score two honors in national competition

Two food operations managed by the Division of Student Affairs have been recognized for excellence by the National Association of College and University Food Services.

The new Hill Dining Center, which won the enthusiasm of students when it opened last fall, earned a bronze award in the Residence Hall Dining Multiple Concepts category of the Loyal E. Horton dining awards. The judging criteria for the award included menu selection, merchandising and presentation, marketing, nutritional soundness and overall impression.

The University Unions’ U-go’s Express convenience store earned an honorable mention in the “2009 Best in Business” Campus C-Store contest for Excellence in Marketing and Merchandising.

The recognition of both operations reinforces the commitment that the Division of Student Affairs has made to providing high-quality food resources for the campus community, university officials say.
