No Spring Commencement tickets left!

Spring Commencement tickets no longer are available for the university community.

The Michigan Union Ticket Office ran out of tickets shortly before 3 p.m. today. Faculty and staff members lined up as early as 2 a.m. to receive up to two tickets each. The university, therefore, is canceling the public distribution of tickets that had been scheduled for tomorrow.

Graduates turned out in record numbers the first three days of this week, said Michelle Pate, director of University and Development Events.

“In recent years, average participation in commencement has included 3,500 graduates. This year nearly 8,500 who are eligible to graduate claimed their tickets,” Pate said.

The ceremony will be broadcast nationally on the Big Ten Network, locally on the Michigan Channel (Comcast Channel 22), and live streaming video will be available at and
