Technology and best-practices conference for staff seeks poster and speaker submissions

VOICES of the Staff is accepting submissions for poster and speaker sessions for a new, staff-focused conference. Titled “U-M StaffWorks 2011 Technology and Best Practices,” the conference is a showcase for U-M staff to share insight, innovation, experience, and expertise in the use of technology and best practices to support the services and operations of the university.

"Our goal is to provide a venue for staff to showcase the best practices they are using. It doesn't even have to be using technological tools. If you have a way to better engage employees on Monday mornings, submit it,” says Doug Hovey, a business process technology analyst in Financial Operations, as well as a member of the VOICES team responsible for U-M StaffWorks. “The idea is to have an event where people walk away with real ideas to make their own workplaces more productive and efficient, using technology or improved processes."

Submissions should demonstrate how a technology or best practice improves effectiveness and/or efficiency of a process in the area of communication, development, faculty and student services, finance, human resources, information technology, patient care and research.

The call for session deadline is Jan. 15. U-M StaffWorks will be May 17 at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Registration information will be available in March. U-M StaffWorks is a creation of the VOICES Technology and Best Practices team.
