Active U registration closes Tuesday

Tuesday is the last day to register for Active U, the 12-week physical activity challenge and charity fundraiser. All university faculty, staff, graduate students and retirees can sign up and participate on a team or as an individual.

Jessica Sobolewski, MHealthy wellness coordinator, says thousands of people already have signed up and more than 200 teams have been formed.

"Active U is so popular because it's for every fitness level, from beginner to avid exerciser, and it's a great way to stay active during the winter months," says Sobolewski. "You can join a team and get extra motivation from your teammates, or sign up as an individual and work to achieve your personal activity goals."

This year's Active U features:

• Three ways to track your activity minutes – using the online Active U Tracker, a Smartphone or by calling from any touch-tone phone.

• Weekly and grand prize drawings.

• An Active U T-shirt for participants who successfully complete the program.

• Opportunity to support local charities by donating funds throughout the program.

• MHealthy Rewards 2011 credit for benefits-eligible employees who successfully complete Active U (qualifies as one activity).

To sign up for Active U, go to by Tuesday.
