New award recognizes supervisors for supporting work/life balance

The U-M Work/Life Resource Center is seeking nominations for the Work/Life Champion Award for Supervisors.

The award recognizes faculty and staff supervisors who promote work/life balance through consistent recognition of and responsiveness to their employee's professional and personal lives.

"One of the things that makes Michigan a great place to work is the value we, as a community, place on developing strong work/life balance," says Jennie McAlpine, director of Work/Life Programs.

"I have personally heard dozens of stories about supervisors, at all levels throughout the university, who make extraordinary efforts to help promote balance. This award is our opportunity to say thank you."

Staff at all university campuses and the U-M Health System may nominate their faculty and/or staff supervisors for the award. Award recipients will receive a gift certificate and plaque, and will be honored at the annual Work/Life Resource Center "Connecting the Dots" Conference.

Nominations are due by April 15. More information and an online nomination form are available at Questions should be directed to Barb Mulay, manager of the Work/Life Resource Center,
