Free tobacco treatment programs get under way in January

The MHealthy Tobacco Consultation Service is offering two free, seven-week tobacco treatment groups in January:

• Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 9, noon-1 p.m., University Health Service, Meeting Room 1

• Mondays, beginning Jan. 16, 5:30-7 p.m., 2025 Traverwood, Suite A3

Participants can learn about preparing to quit, how quitting affects their body, tobacco treatment medications, setting a quit date and relapse prevention.

Through the MHealthy Tobacco Independence Program, benefits-eligible employees and enrolled spouses or OQAs may qualify to receive coverage for generic over-the-counter tobacco treatment products (with $5 co-pay per one-month supply), as well as a $100 before-tax incentive for completing the program.
