UM-Dearborn announces master’s degree in early childhood education
The UM-Dearborn School of Education will offer a new master’s degree in early childhood education beginning this fall. The Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education will help meet the growing demand for education leadership and provides options for teachers, administrators and other service providers.

Sweetland, U-M Press and MPublishing launch website, book series
The Gayle Morris Sweetland Center for Writing, U-M Press and MPublishing have launched the Sweetland Digital Rhetoric Collaborative. It will include a book series and community Web space for scholars and teachers working in computers and writing and digital rhetoric.

REMINDER: Deadline for switching to Microsoft antivirus software is June 30
The university's McAfee antivirus software license will expire June 30. Anyone using McAfee on their personal Windows computers are urged to switch to the free Microsoft Security Essentials. Just uninstall McAfee and install MSE. Users needing help are asked to contact the ITS Service Center.

An eye on disease
Biophysics sophomore Nilesh Raval wants to help people, and through his undergraduate research he is able to get a head start. He is one of many students who found a research project through LSA’s Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program. Raval, who plans to attend medical school and become an ophthalmologist, has been able to spend two years working for the Kellogg Eye Center researching the correlation between the cornea and some systemic diseases like fibromyalgia and diabetes.
