Judge takes plea under advisement in pornography case

A former pediatric resident at the U-M Health System pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of possession of child pornography, but the court has not accepted his plea.

Instead, a U.S. District Court judge in Detroit took the plea under advisement and ordered Dr. Stephen Jenson to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. The sentence proposed in the agreement was for 36-87 months in jail followed by a minimum of five years of supervised release.

Jenson was dismissed from U-M last December. He was originally charged in state court with possession of child pornography. Those charges were dropped when the case was transferred to federal court with similar charges.
