Earlier this semester students on North Campus had the opportunity to de-stress with a variety of fun activities during the Fall Do Something and Play Day sponsored by U-M Counseling and Psychological Services. A similar event is scheduled for Feb. 27, 2013.

Nominations sought for Staff Innovation Award
Voices of the Staff in collaboration with the Office of the President is seeking nominations for the first annual President’s Staff Innovation Award, a new award program recognizing individual staff members or teams whose big ideas help make U-M a better place. All regular staff members at the Ann Arbor, Flint, and Dearborn campuses and Health System are eligible.

University reminds employees about severe-weather policy
As the likelihood of wintry weather increases, campus leaders would like to remind the community that the university's severe-weather policy encourages all employees to make a reasonable effort to report to work as scheduled.

UM-Dearborn offers new minor in geography
More than 100 UM-Dearborn students were asked a simple question last fall: Would you be interested in pursuing a minor in geography? Nearly half said yes. The university recently approved the geography minor, which lies within the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters’ Department of Social Sciences.

Saving Detroit neighborhoods from blight
Margaret Dewar, professor of urban planning, is leading an effort to help government and philanthropic programs head off neighborhood blight in Detroit. With support from the Center for Advancing Research and Solutions for Society, Dewar and U-M urban planning colleagues Lan Deng and June Thomas will evaluate revitalization efforts in two Detroit neighborhoods.
